Frequently Asked Questions

What is an IEP?

An Individualized Education Program is a written document for a child with a disability that specifies the individual educational needs of the child and what special education and related services are necessary to meet the child’s educational needs.

What is a Special Education Advocate?

A special education advocate helps parents navigate the challenges and complexities of special education to ensure the child’s rights and needs are being met.

What if I disagree with the school’s proposed IEP?

If you disagree with your child’s proposed Individualized Education Plan (IEP), you may deny consent to implementing the IEP or you may sign the IEP in partial consent. You may also request another IEP meeting to discuss your concerns.

What procedural safeguards exist if my child is denied a FAPE?
