Alex represents families in special education matters arising under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, including eligibility, placement, IEP, and due process proceedings.

Alexandra (“Alex”) Little is a dynamic special education attorney and joins Belkowitz Law, PLLC after five years as an Exceptional Family Member Program Attorney with the United States Navy. Prior to then, Alex was a Senior Attorney with Virginia Legal Aid Society.

Alex began practicing law as a Deputy District Attorney with the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Breckenridge, Colorado. Her experience in the juvenile courts introduced Alex to the interconnectedness of public education and the criminal justice system for at-risk youth, including those with disabilities. She was named the 5th Judicial District’s Attorney of the Year in 2015.

Alex next worked as an Ethics Attorney with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, which certifies Applied Behavior Analysis practitioners.

Alex moved to Virginia in 2019, where she was an attorney with Virginia Legal Aid Society, representing low-income Virginians in housing and education matters. In 2020, she accepted a position as the U.S. Navy’s first-ever Exceptional Family Member Program Special Education Attorney, representing military families throughout the special education process. Alex was awarded Attorney of the Year for RLSO MIDLANT in 2021, the Navy’s Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 2022, and the Navy’s Superior Civilian Service Award in 2025.

Alex lives in Norfolk with her husband and children. She enjoys cycling, going to the beach, and reading.
